Unique training opportunities with the Thomson Foundation

  tflogoThe Cyprus Community Media Centre (CCMC) is proud to announce its partnership with the Thomson Foundation in providing a four-day Media Literacy training course for civil society in March 2011 and a five day multimedia and Online Journalism course for journalists in March 2011.

Media Literacy course FOR CIVIL SOCIETY 13-16 March 2011

CCMC is inviting applications from civil society to attend this four day intensive course, run by a Thomson Foundation trainer and taking place at the Cyprus Community Media Centre in Nicosia. The course is designed to engage civil society organisations with the basic principles of advocacy, through the use of the Internet, face-to-face briefings and campaign planning and to provide civil society organisations with a strong foundation on which to campaign and engage with local media, across the island.

This specialised training is being offered to civil society with support from UNDP-Action for Cooperation and Trust, and is free of charge to successful applicants. Click here for an application form for the Media Literacy for Civil Society course.

Multimedia and Online Journalism course FOR JOURNALISTS 17-21 March 2011

CCMC is inviting applications from journalists to attend this five day intensive course, run by a Thomson Foundation trainer and taking place at the Cyprus Community Media Centre in Nicosia. Want to improve your multimedia skills, deepen your career prospects and learn how to keep pace with the fast changing world of online media? The course will provide journalists with a unique professional development opportunity, covering subjects such as digital photography, audio production and editing, creating audio slideshows, recording video interviews and the possibilities of multimedia online. This specialised training is being led by Dan Mason, former editor of award-winning daily newspapers. No previous online skills are required but proficiency in English is a must.

TONIGHT: CCMC/SIM TV show launches at 9pm

Please watch SIM TV channel tonight, 25 February 2011 at 9pm for the first CCMC/SIM TV co-production show ‘Encounters’. Guests on tonight’s show are Zehra Sonya and Ozgul Ezgin from CCMC member the European Mediterranean Art Association (EMAA). The show will be on every Friday night, featuring different guests from CCMC members. The show began as an initiative of the Encounters project led by Ozker Ozgur Peace and Democracy Foundation (BADEV) and funded by the ENGAGE Small Grants Programme.
