What’s your story?

The Cyprus Community Media Centre is currently running an ongoing campaign entitled ‘What’s your story?’ This campaign involves collecting stories from people across the island who are interested in sharing anecdotes, thoughts, testimonies and memories about themselves.

As a community media centre, we want to amplify the voice of all the communities of this island. People have been submitting material in a number of different formats – postcards, artwork, short films, photographs, poems. We encourage anybody who feels they have something to say, to participate.

A selection of the stories collected so far are being showcased at our opening event on 9 December 2009, which will be attended by three members of the eminent Elders Group, Lakhdar Brahimi, Jimmy Carter and Desmond Tutu.

These stories will then be on our website as well as form part of future public exhibitions.

What you can do: Break out your mobiles, webcams, voice recorders, camcorders or good old fashioned pen & paper and tell us: what’s your story?

«Ποια είναι η ιστορία σας;

Αν θέλετε να λάβετε μέρος: χρησιμοποιείστε τα κινητά τηλέφωνα σας, βιντεοκάμερες, webcams, ή πένα και χαρτί και πείτε μας: ποια είναι η ιστορία σας;

  1. Dear Sir/Madam,
    Greetings from FoST/Nepal.
    I just visited your site, Cyprus Community Media Centre. Very much interesting.
    I visited Lanarca last year on the invitation of Colorado University and EWB International to participate in a conference.
    I am again visiting Lanarca to participate in Engineers without Borders’ Second International Regional Meeting on Sustainable Engineering in the Mediterranean Region, Lanarca, Cyprus from March 3 to 6, 2010. I am giving presentation on “Alleviating Poverty through Sustainable Technologies”.
    Last year, I presented on “Sustainable Fuel for the Poor Community”. I organized a practical workshop on converting sea-weed into an efficient fuel.
    This time, I am bringing a handy briquette press and sample of briquettes to demonstrate how we can convert sea-weed, grass, saw dust, leaves, paper, packaging cartoon wastes and many more municipal wastes into fuel briquettes.
    If you are interested to join in practical session, please leave a message at Palm Beach Hotel and Bungalows in Lanarca or contact me in above email address.
    Warm regards,
    Sanu Kaji Shrestha
